How to order your custom portrait

Thank you for considering me as the artist to capture the spirit and soul of your loved one and/or pet. On this page I outline the basic process for ordering your very own portrait. Please don’t hesitate to email me at any time with any special requests and/or questions.

The basic process for ordering your custom portrait:

1) Email me with your request, giving me an idea of what you would like in your portrait.

2) I will respond back within a few days with the cost and length of time this piece should take. This email will confirm the portrait details and contain payment information.

3) Send me a deposit for the work and the photos I am to work from; I will get started immediately!

4) I will send you a scan of what the portrait looks like when completed. When you are satisfied with the way I have represented your loved one, you may send the balance of the payment.

5) When I have received payment in full, I will send you the finished portrait, along with your photos. At this time you alone will have the option to purchase memorabilia imprinted with your artwork.

Photographs
I always work from photos. Unlike other artists, I can combine several photos to produce a portrait with the perfect combination of facial expression, pose, outfit, etc. Or if you have a favourite photo, I can simply reproduce that. A standard photo of good quality, especially where I can see the eyes well, is best.

Since I sometimes don't personally know the person/pet, I will need you to tell me what your favourite pictures, favourite poses, outfits, etc are. The more information that you can provide (and photos which capture this), the better the portrait will turn out. You can email me your pictures as attachments (.jpg, .tiff, or .bmp format), or I will be happy to provide you with my mailing address if you wish to "snail mail" them to me. I will return all photographs once the artwork is complete.

Price
This will vary depending on the medium and size portrait you require. Below are some of the more commonly requested sizes for a portrait done in pencil:

9 x 12 $100

11 x 14 $125

16 x 20 $150

These are for a single person or pet. To add in additional people and/or pets (of course, I can combine people and/or pets), simply add $50 each for the 9 x 12, $60 for the 11 x 14, and $70 for the 16 x 20.
